Internet Cruises
Norton Elementary School's Quest program will begin on Thursday, October 11, 2007. The Quest students will meet @ 2:00 p.m. in the intermediate computer lab. I am looking forward to another exciting year.
This year the NES Quest students will be working on a project titled, Internet Cruises. In Internet Cruises, the students work cooperatively to navigate the World Wide Web as travelers on cuise ships. Students are members of Advance Teams sent by a Cruise Line to explore possible travel destinations. Each student becomes an Expert in one aspect of their destination: Culture, Foods, Geography, History, Nature or Travel. Advance Teams are use the Internet to conduct focused research. While investigating their destinations and learning computer skills, students produce individual Scrapbooks and Advance Team Promotional Brochures. The culminating activity will be to share what they have learned with each other. The Internet Cruises activity specifically addresses the following:
Knowledge

- Feeling pride in individual and group accomplishments
Skills
- Making decisions and fulfilling responsibilities
- Presenting knowledge in oral and written forms
- Making inferences and summarizing information
- Searching for information on the World Wide Web
- Producing electronic documents using word processing and drawing software
